Ninety-five people have died in asylum accommodation since April 2016, almost double the figure recently admitted by the government, raising suspicions the Home Office has deliberately downplayed the death toll.
And the data reveals that in the past two years there has been a particularly sharp increase in the number of deaths of those housed under asylum support provisions, such as in hotels.

Undocumented migrants in Ireland offered ‘once in a generation’ amnesty
Junior minister James Browne says the move will help vulnerable women working in prostitution
Women being exploited in the sex industry are among 17,000 undocumented migrants who will have the opportunity to regularise their legal status in Ireland under a “once in a generation” amnesty.
Junior minister with responsibility for law reform James Browne is introducing the widescale amnesty, which he said could also potentially affect any Afghan nationals already living here who are undocumented.
The scheme to regularise the status of undocumented migrants who have been living in Ireland for at least four years, or three years in the case of those with children, is being brought to Cabinet next month.
In November a portal will be opened for the up to 17,000 eligible undocumented migrants living in Ireland to apply for legal status . It will remain open for six months. The scheme will give migrants unrestricted access to the labour market, and allow them to apply for citizenship later.
The majority of undocumented migrants in Ireland are from the Philippines, Mongolia, China, Bangladesh, Brazil and Malawi. Data shows 75pc of them have been in Ireland for more than five years and 2,000 of this number are children — 93pc are working and 70pc are aged between 24 and 44.
“This is a once in a generation scheme to regularise the undocumented. We always ask the Americans to do it for the Irish. To have credibility, we need to be doing the same,” Mr Browne told the Sunday Independent .
“These migrants are people who are already here, and have been for several years, but at the moment they are working in the black economy. A lot are working in kitchens and in some healthcare settings.”
Some undocumented migrants arrived on visas permitting them to work for a certain amount of time, but they then remained in Ireland. Others never had permission to work here but found jobs in the black economy.
In relation to women who may be undocumented and working in prostitution, Mr Browne said the amnesty could “absolutely” help them to escape from criminal elements that have potentially forced them into the sex industry.
“There are people who are trapped and undocumented in this country. Women are particularly vulnerable out there on the black market. They are at risk and there’s no doubt they are being exploited by criminal elements because of their undocumented status,” he said.
Mr Browne added that there could be a small number of Afghan citizens living here as undocumented migrants.
“There could be some undocumented Afghanis living in the community who are eligible. Anyone who fits the criteria will be encouraged to apply. It is a win-win situation. It gives migrants more rights and full access to the labour market as well as protections. It is always better for our society for everyone living and working here to have the same status and rights. It will also ensure employers have obligations to provide protections.”
The refugees due to arrive in Ireland after fleeing Afghanistan last week will not be eligible for the scheme, as they will enter the country as asylum seekers. This is an entirely different process, which sees asylum seekers aspire to refugee status, in a process that takes a number of years.
It is the intention of officials to keep the scheme as straightforward and simple for applicants as possible, Mr Browne said. The State did not want a situation where undocumented migrants had to access complex legal advice in order to find out if they were eligible for the scheme, he added.
Mr Browne has worked closely with NGOs in developing the scheme, including the Migrant Rights Centre Ireland.
It is expected undocumented migrants subject to deportation orders due to any criminal offences will not be eligible for the scheme.
“It will provide an opportunity for those who meet its criteria to remain and reside in the State and to become part of mainstream Irish society rather than living on its margins,” Mr Browne said.
“The scheme will be finalised by my department in the first week in September. It will then be brought to Cabinet by the end of September.
"I expect the scheme will then open in November.”

Guinea Coup after Zimbabwe Intelligence foiled one in 2004
Soldiers in Guinea said on Sunday 5 September 2021, that they had arrested the president and staged a coup. This is the latest political upheaval in the impoverished west African nation, as the government insists it has repelled the attack.
"We have decided, after having taken the president, to dissolve the constitution," said a uniformed officer flanked by soldiers toting assault rifles in a video sent to AFP.
The officer also said that Guinea's land and air borders have been shut and the government dissolved.
Claiming Conde was in custody, a junta spokesman said he had not been harmed and his welfare had been guaranteed.
Guinea is the same country that was saved from a coup attempt by the Zimbabwean Military Intelligence in 2004, which implicated the son of the late Margaret Thatcher.
Hakainde Hichilema’s inauguration filled the Zambian National Stadium (Independence Stadium) during what has been an exciting week for Southern African persecuted opposition political parties. As many have said, “one of our own has achieved what seems to have been the impossible.” Hakainde Hichilema has been inaugurated as the President of Zambia.
It’s worth noting that even in the middle of a pandemic, the leader managed to fill the stadium to capacity, whilst Emerson Mnangagwa the ruler of neighbouring Zimbabwe on the other hand had an empty stadium before the pandemic (see video). One of the risks of such a full stadium is that this could be deemed to be a supper spreader event. Likely taking a leaf out of Joe Biden’s books might have been a great idea. However, only time will tell. As a side note, the National Broadcasters in Zambia 🇿🇲 did not give HH any media coverage before his inauguration so, it’s likely he could put the blame on the previous regime and the rights of the Media to cover elections fairly without prejudice, hence his inability to communicate in a calm manner to his followers and the rest of the country may have been somewhat curtailed.
The optimism and good will for Zambia by Zambians and others in opposition politics in the region (SADC) is immense. One does hope that Human Rights for all will be realised within Zambia. Especially in the realms of politics. It is hoped that strong independent institutions that operate as checks and balances of the majority will be allowed to operate independently and be respected.
It is also hoped that all the crimes against humanity and human rights abuses will be properly investigated then tried by an independent, just and fare judiciary that is not controlled by anyone.
The dig at ZANU PF emptying stadiums is not without evidence and the significance is an extremely huge barometer on the popularity of the ruling party by its supporters and all those who are independent voters.
This unfortunately has not happened in the Zimbabwean context for over 30 or arguably 40 years. The last smooth transition of power in the Zimbabwean context from one political party to another occurred on Independence day on the 18th of April 1980. The last smooth transition of power within a ruling party occurred when the late Canaan Banana (ZANU) handed over the Presidency to the late Rober Mugabe (ZANU which became ZANU PF).

It seems the ZANU PF National press is at it again. The propaganda machine of the Herald is in full swing. The police could have done a full presser to lay out all the facts, but it seems they’re avoiding providing evidence of a case that is of National importance. They’ve sent out the Gvt paid journalists who get water from boreholes in low density suburbs.
Let’s read what they’ve written below and take it all with a pinch of salt. The real truth will come in court. The Source is the Herald. The Herald is a Government Newspaper and is the largest in Zimbabwe.
Hatirarami Momberume, is the man accused of impregnating the 15-year-old girl who recently died while giving birth at an apostolic sect’s shrine in Marange, has appeared in court charged with murder while the girl’s parents were also arrested in Kwekwe for defeating the course of justice.
Momberume (26), who works at a farm in Kwekwe, is also being charged with being intimate or performing indecent acts with a young person.
Yesterday, police detectives picked the deceased’s father, Edmore Machaya (45) and his wife Ratchel Mabika (36) at Garibold Farm in Kwekwe amid indications they had lied about the girl’s date of birth.
They were taken to court where they were denied bail.
Mabika stands accused of misleading the police by submitting her name as Shy Mabika when her real name is Ratchel.
Momberume was not asked to plead to murder and having sexual intercourse with a minor when he appeared before Mutare regional magistrate Mrs Lucy-Anne Mungwari.
Mrs Mungwari remanded him in custody to September 3.
Messrs Tirivanhu Mutyasira and Jonathan Chingwinyiso appeared for the State, while Mr Brian Majamanda of Khupe and Chijara Law Chambers represented Momberume.
Mr Majamanda told the court that he would apply for bail in due course.
However, bail applications in respect of murder cases are dealt with by the High Court, which has jurisdiction over such third schedule offences.
It is the State’s case that Momberume caused the death of the girl by impregnating her and failing to take her to a proper health institution to receive healthcare services.
“Instead, the accused person took Annah Machaya to Johanne Marange traditional midwives where she delivered and died after some labour complications.
“He thereafter secretly buried her without notifying the authorities of her death,” reads part of the court papers.
To cover up for the offence, it is alleged that there was misrepresentation that the deceased was Memory Machaya aged 22.
On the other count, Momberume is said to have impregnated Annah (15) and stayed with her as his wife.
She then fell pregnant and died on July 15 while giving birth to a baby boy at a shrine in Marange, Manicaland.
Annah’s parents were picked up in Kwekwe and taken to court for defeating the course of justice by furnishing investigators with false information.
The couple Edmore Machaya and Ratchel Mbika were remanded in custody to 9 September after their bail request was shot down.
Kwekwe prosecutor Ms Michelle Daraja told the court that the two gave false information to the police following the death of their child Anna Machaya on 15 July 2021.

It is the State’s case that on 9 August 2021 the two, who are biological parents to the deceased, were approached by detectives investigating the death.
The couple allegedly misrepresented to the police that the girl who had died was Memory Machaya born on January 2, 1999.
They allegedly furnished the police with a national registration certificate of the said Memory Machaya which they knew belonged to another person who is alive.
Police investigations later established that the deceased was in fact, Annah Machaya born in July 2006.

Zanu PF shielding child
abusers: NGOs
NON-GOVERNMENTAL organisa- tions (NGOs) have accused the ruling Zanu PF party of protecting child abusers in the Johane Ma- range Apostolic Church through their “unholy alliance.”
The accusations came after a 14-year-old who is known as Memory Machaya allegedly died at a Church Shrine in Bocha, Marange in Manicaland province during the annual festival last month while giving birth.
Thousands of church members were allowed to congregate despite President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s level 4 COVID-19 lock- down prohibiting gatherings.

Police earlier in the week arrested Machaya's alleged husband, Evans Momberume, and advised that he would appear at the Mutare Magistrate Court soon. Momberume, who is being charged with having sex with a minor, allegedly fled from the scene when Machaya died.
Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition (CiZC) said the church’s closeness to the ruling Zanu PF was giving the culprits impunity and accused the ruling party of sacrificing the rights of the girl child on the alter of political expediency.
“Over the years, we have witnessed an unholy alliance between Zimbabwe’s ruling party Zanu PF and a number of apostolic sects with the former campaigning for the ruling party during elections. This has allowed the apostolic sects to violate the rights of girls and women with impunity. That unholy alliance must be broken,” CiZC said in a statement.
The comments come after Justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi was on Tuesday quizzed by MPs on why the police were failing to deal with the matter.
In response, Ziyambi said the police were facing resistance in investigating the case. He did not disclose the source of the resistance.
CiZC added: “It is shocking that law enforcement agents mandated to maintain law and order as well as protection of fundamental rights, including those of the girl child, would claim to face resistance in a case of such magnitude, a case that has attracted world wide condemnation when the perpetrators are well known individuals.” Machaya’s case, the group said, was a litmus test for the Zimbabwean government’s commitment to the protection of the girl child.
“It is shocking that police in Zimba- bwe have often responded with brute force against citizens calling for eco- nomic, political and electoral reforms yet they have developed a lackadaisical approach in this case.
“The rights of the girl child are sacrosanct and should never be compro- mised as a result of the lust for polit- ical support and power. As it stands, the girl child in Zimbabwe is at the mercy of unscrupulous church leaders and the government. Women and girls’ safety should never be exchanged for power.”
Zanu PF spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo immediately rubbished the claims, saying Zanu PF had nothing to do with the matter.“Are they saying the ruling party protects lawlessness?” Khaya-Moyo asked. “That doesn’t make sense.
Zanu PF is not a law enforcement agent. They must understand that. Where are we coming in? The police are there and it is not Zanu PF that investigates cases.”
Mnangagwa, his deputy Constantino Chiwenga and several ministers have visited the shrine in a bid to solicit for votes prior to elections.
Mnangagwa’s predecessor, the late former President Robert Mugabe has also visited the sect’s shrine, described by observers as a huge Zanu PF constituency. Mnangagwa’s government has surfaced a 10km stretch of road leading to the shrine.

Simon Khaya-Moyo spits out his teeth as ZANU PF scoffs at the Nelson Chamisa-led MDC Alliance celebrating the victory of Zambia’s President-elect Hakainde Hichilema in the elections held on 12 August in the neighbouring Zambia.
ZANU PF spokesperson Simon Khaya-Moyo said the MDC Alliance’s response to Hichilema’s victory exhibits cardinal political immaturity.
Khaya-Moyo stated that Zambia and Zimbabwe were sovereign States who needed no external interference when holding their elections. Said Moyo
Khaya-Moyo said ZANU PF’s position in relation to the recently held elections in Zambia is fully reflected in the congratulatory message sent by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to Hichilema following his victory.
He said the ruling party will not waste time on the MDC Alliance “antics”.
The main reason for the ZANU PF antics of late when they bemoan the loss of PF in Zambia is that, the PF in Zambia mirrors the antics of the PF in Zimbabwe. As an example The winner of the latest elections was arrested so many times by the police in Zambia acting under the instructions of the PF in Zambia.
The winner HH was even arrested on Treason Charges at one point.
It is likely just that ZANU PF is actually quaking in their boots, because they know, their days are numbered.

For refusing to stand up for the rights of young girls, some as young as 11 years old, who are being forced into the hands of Zimbabwe Government ZANU PF supporters, State Sanctioned Church Pedophiles.
Following the insensitive and crass statements that were uttered by Madam Boss regarding her unwillingness to protest the prevalence of Paedophilia in the support base of ZANU PF. Zimbabwean born Transgender socialite who is known as Tatelicious, vented her frustration at Madam Boss and described her as a ZANU PF prostitute, that shows off.
Those who do not understand Shona may ask their Zimbabwean friends to explain what is said, as some of it is too explicit to print.
Thus far, it seems out of guilt and shame Madam Boss had deleted the Facebook post that has the main evidence, unfortunately for her and fortunately for everyone else, we recorded it and you may watch it all below.
Memory Machaya was a young 14 year old Girl who did whilst trying to give birth to a child, after she was forced to Mary a Grown adult man who is known to the community. Memory died at a Church shrine in Zimbabwe.
The Church is unfortunately closely linked to the Zimbabwean Governments Executive branch in Zimbabwe.
